Lipofilling
Lipofilling is a treatment in which body's own fat is used to fill volume loss in other areas of the face. The fat is subtly injected into areas where the skin has sagged or lost volume, such as the face. At DokterEs , this treatment is performed using a special technique called SEFFILLER®. This treatment has the added benefit of offering regeneration of the skin in addition to volume restoration.
The technique is intended for people who are looking for a natural result that does not involve the use of synthetic fillers or when there is a contraindication to traditional fillers, as may be the case, for example, with permanent filler treatments in the past history.
Lipofilling for the face
Facial lipofilling involves using fat from one's own body through a mini-liposuction, usually from the abdomen, to:
- Filling collapsed cheeks or temples
- Improve the jawline
- Making deep folds or lines less visible
- Volume restoration after weight loss or skin aging.
Lipofilling is often chosen by people who want long-term results without hyaluronic acid fillers or intensive surgical procedures such as a facelift.
Skin enhancement with lipofilling
Because the adipose tissue is rich in growth factors and stem cells, in addition to volume restoration through padding, there is also an activation on the production of collagen and elastin in the skin and the skin is prompted to regenerate and the tissues. Course of Lipofilling treatment
Curious about how a treatment for Lipofilling goes?
During the consultation, the cosmetic doctor will discuss your needs and options in detail. In preparation for Seffiller lipofilling treatment, the following advice can be observed in consultation with the doctor:
- If possible (by agreement), temporarily avoid blood-thinning drugs
- Avoid smoking for several weeks before and after treatment.
- For optimal results, 1-3 treatments are required at 6-month intervals.
In this step, we will do four things:
- Fat is "harvested" via mini liposuction under local anesthesia, usually from the abdomen or hip
- The fat is purified. Typically, about 15ml of purified fat is available for injection.
- The areas of purified fat to be placed are determined and marked off on the face.
- Fat is then returned to the face with a cannula.
Treatment takes an average of 2 hours, depending on the areas and the amount of fat that can be removed. On average, about 15ml of fat is returned to the face. Of this, typically 30-50% of the fat survives per treatment. The fat that survives gives long-lasting results.
Of course, all aftercare advice prior to and after the treatment is discussed in detail with the doctor. Here is some post-treatment advice:
- Avoid pressure on the treated area of the face
- Wear a pressure band around the abdomen
- No intense exercise in the first week
- Swelling and bruising usually subside within 1 to 2 weeks
- For optimal fat cell survival, a healthy diet is recommended and the use of alcohol and smoking are discouraged.

Immediately after treatment, the volume-increasing effect is visible. As the swelling decreases and the fat stabilizes, a natural-looking volume is created. The regenerative and collagen stimulating effects of growth factors and stem cells gradually occur. Within 8-12 weeks, a visibly improved skin texture and firmness becomes noticeable, with peak results after about six months.
Final results are only achieved after about six months, as the body needs time to fully integrate the injected fat and complete its regenerative effects. Patience is important, but the results are well worth the wait!
