What is a peel?
A peel is a skin treatment that removes dead skin cells to improve skin texture. This is done with special acids that renew the skin and stimulate its own collagen production. There are different types of peels:
- Mild exfoliation: suitable for dull skin and light blemishes.
- Medium peel: treats pigmentation spots and fine lines.
- Deep peels: targeting deeper wrinkles, overall skin aging, and(acne) scars.
Peeling vs scrub
A peel is not the same as an exfoliation. A scrub removes superficial impurities through mechanical friction with granules, which is often too aggressive for the skin barrier. Therefore, a scrub works only superficially on dead skin cells and usually does not stimulate other processes in the skin. A peel, on the other hand, offers exfoliation in a more controlled manner and works deeper into the skin, also improving skin condition and strengthening and rejuvenating the skin.
How does a peel work?
A peel removes the top layer of skin and stimulates cell renewal. Depending on the acids used, such as TCA, glycolic or salicylic acid, the peel penetrates deeper into the skin to address specific skin problems.

Our peel treatments proceed in the following steps:
The skin therapist will examine your skin and create a personalized treatment plan. Pay attention to these recommendations before treatment:
- Avoid unprotected exposure to direct sunlight 2 weeks in advance.
- Prevent skin irritation by using other (intensive) skin treatments and products the days before treatment.
- An intake consultation is essential to choosing the right peel.
After a comprehensive cleansing, the peel is applied. This acts on the skin for several minutes. This process removes dead skin cells and stimulates renewal. After removing the peeling, a soothing mask and restorative products are applied.
We will discuss aftercare together. These include:
- Use the recommended aftercare products and an SPF50 to protect your skin.
- Redness and flaking are normal during the days following the peel, depending on the depth chosen.
- After a few days to a week, you will see smoother and fresher skin with a radiant glow.
