How Botox Works for a Lip Flip
During a Botox treatment for the lips (a lip flip), we relax the muscle surrounding the mouth. By injecting small amounts of Botox, we block the nerve signals to this muscle. The muscle around the mouth relaxes, and the lip curls slightly outward. This creates a subtle increase in lip volume because, in many people, the muscle around the mouth pulls the upper lip slightly inward. The effect is visible after a few days and reaches its peak after 2 weeks. On average, the effect lasts 2 to 3 months.

Treatment Process
You can have a Botox treatment for the lips performed on its own or in combination with lip fillers or treatments for other areas (such as crow’s feet or forehead wrinkles). It is also possible to undergo other treatments, such as hyaluronic acid fillers, Sculptra, and skin boosters, depending on your wishes and goals. During a consultation, we’ll discuss together what’s best for you.
You can have a Botox treatment for the lips performed on its own or in combination with lip fillers or treatments for other areas (such as crow’s feet or forehead wrinkles). It is also possible to undergo other treatments, such as hyaluronic acid fillers, Sculptra, and skin boosters, depending on your wishes and goals. During a consultation, we’ll discuss together what’s best for you.
Using a very fine needle, the doctor administers 2 to 4 small injections above the lip. An experienced doctor performs the treatment. The entire appointment takes about 15 minutes; the procedure itself takes no more than 5 to 10 minutes. No anesthesia is needed, and you’ll experience minimal pain.
After the treatment, you can immediately resume your daily activities and use your own skincare products. You may cover any bruising (which is very rare) with makeup. Sun exposure does not affect how Botox works. Of course , we do recommend that you always wear adequate sun protection with SPF 50. There are a few aftercare instructions we’d like to share with you.
Aftercare Instructions for Lip Botox
There are a few things to keep in mind after the treatment:
